Start With Commitment

I came to a realization this morning. It may not have been a big one, but it struck me as worth sharing. That realization was this: every success story I’ve ever read or heard about started out with someone taking a dream and changing it into a goal. In that moment, when they decide they are going to make their dream come true, the successful person commits. They commit to the work it will take to make their dream come true. They change a dream into a goal and compile the goals into a plan and work that plan until they reach success. Continue reading

Falling Down or Getting Knocked Down

Each of us… every single one of us knows what it’s like to fall down. We’ve done it. It’s not something we can “relate” to because we’ve seen someone else do it. It’s something we’ve done: as a child, as a teenager, as a young adult, as a middle aged individual and (unfortunately) sometimes as an elderly individual. One of the greatest things about Earth is gravity; and one of our realities of life is that gravity sucks. We fight it all our lives. When we trip, lose our balance, etc. we fall. Thanks, gravity. But falling is different from getting knocked down. One is our fault; the other results from someone else’s actions. Is getting back up from both the same? Continue reading

Pray For Strength to…

The quote is from the Master, Bruce Lee.  He was a man who certainly didn’t have an easy life, but somehow found the time and energy to train, as well as training and motivating others.  All too often we – all of us humans – find a crutch in praying to god (or God – or whatever deity you prefer) – for an easier time of things.  I’ve known people who ONLY pray when times are tough and they think they can’t handle it.  I’ve known people who pray multiple times per day for God to help them with their problems; for God to ease up their burden; for God to… well, you get the idea.  They pray for an easier life.  Then there are those who say, “God will only burden me with what he knows I can handle.  God must think I’m a badass.”
