When Is “Too Late”?

You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.  How many times have you heard THAT statement?  Better yet, how many times have you heard that statement used by someone who you believed simply didn’t want to try to teach someone something new? Or learn something new themselves?  From past experience I know for a fact that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks.  In fact, you can teach an old dog new tricks right up until you have to say goodbye to them and wonder if you’ll go get a puppy replacement.

First, if you’ve ever had to say goodbye to your old dog then you know what a blessing they are and a challenge those final moments can be.  Every dog I’ve ever had was precious and I miss all of them.  Most, if not all of them, were capable of far more than I’d ever expected and a joy to share my life with. I once heard heaven described as the place you go after you die where every dog that every loved you meets you with a wagging tail and panting smile.  Let’s hope so.

Second, as an analogy, it’s clear the statement is false…
